Stroll out onto Lake George
There isn't quite a better time to visit the Adirondacks in upstate New York than late August. A boat ride out on Lake George and a visit to the horse track at Saratoga Springs and you will be hooked.

The annual Travers Stakes at the Saratoga Race Course has quickly become a favorite event of mine. Also known as Saratoga's Mid Summer Derby, the race day takes place at the very end of August. Visiting the race track is the perfect excuse to grab a slick summer jacket, your favorite summer shirt, white chinos, a case of ice cold beverages, and plenty of cash to place bets on the three-year olds.

Ladies, don't forget to find yourself the most stylish of hats prior to entering the gates of the track to pair along with your finest summer dress.
